Tell ya, I’m addicted to the weather, I spend so much time on the bbc website looking at wrongly predicted weather reports. But recently, those who regularly visit, have made their beta site live.
Assuming this site was done by professionals, they’ve made some funny mistakes, so because they have changed the URL, now google needs to index new pages, get new page rank scores, and wait for everyone to update their links. Loosing a lot of credibility.
Most times whenever I searched for ‘weather’ BBC would come up top result, and at worst, I saw it for a week at 2nd position. Now I can’t find it at all. ‘UK weather’ gone, and regional weather search terms have gone too.
The New Site
To be honest I’m not keen on it, sure it looks good, but usability has suffered. Now the large flash weather animation doesn’t even show me the temperatures. I have to go to local areas. I used to look at the ‘monthly’ outlook’ too, but it took me ages to find the link they moved (now in the bottom right corner). But before I found it, I used their on site search for ‘monthly outlook’ it couldn’t be more specific. But the BBC site found no results, so that annoyed me. So I think they have to fix a lot before their audience is satisfied.
I’d hate to think about how much traffic they have lost!
