Hi there,

I see what your saying and it is a valid concern. Firstly these alternative landing pages I tend not to link to, so they don't get indexed, secondly if you are concerned that they might be, I suggest using robots.txt as a sure way to keep them separate.

Hope this helps,
Alan

Hi,

We are running over 20 different Ad groups spread out through about 4 Campaigns. If we create a new landing page for each of these Ad Groups, will Google penalize our site for duplicate content? Each landing page will be very similar, but will switch out the main keyword phrase in the title tags, h1 tages, etc... The landing pages in question are forms used to generate leads.

Thanks!

Hey Liam,

No probs, this article is a little dated now, but generally the advice within it remains the same. I'll be doing an new article soon with the latest updates, but as this is a bit older I would reckon you could get 8/10 9/10 and the odd 10/10 in most places.

But you are right, like the google crawler for their search index, adsense, they also have a crawler for adwords. This will need to crawl first. It's also not uncommon for the ranking to drop to 2 or 3 for 1 or 2 days. I don't know why they started doing it, but I had different things happen. Firstly if you panic and turn your account off, pause it etc, you'll have to start over, it doesn't help by doing that. The best thing to do is to leave it. Yes its a bit more costly over a couple of days but it will shoot backup really high in score. 8's 9's 10's. So again, Don't panic!

Hope this helps,

Alan

Hi, what a great article... can you clarify a point for me though?

I have set up AW with 3 campaigns (all interrelated) with ads and keywords. The highest performing keywords can only achieve 7/10 so far. I then read this article and updated my website as per above. Do I now have to wait for Google to recrawl my website before my campaign keywords go from 7 to a 10?

Hi,

Great post, Thanks for the hard work.

I was wondering if you could let me know the new to-do list for current adwords.

I tried creating a new domain name the same as my keyword
then setting the page title, description, meta keywords
and body to all have the keywords but the best score i can get is a 7/10.

Thanks

Alan, I will pay you for a consultancy to help me get my website going on adwords again. It is killing my business. They won't run my ads, and I have done all the research I can, and still no luck! I have no idea what I am doing wrong! Please advise by email!
