Googles gone anal with another update to it’s admin panel for Google Analytics, however once you get over the confusion of being away from normality it’s pretty good, now from a glance you can view the important stuff, and go into the nitty gritty details if you want. One critism though is that it doesn’t save your settings, I want it to show more than 10 rows, as 10 rows counts the domain title, as a row, so you only see 5 of your listed websites… which isn’t much good. So to see for example 10 websites, you need 20 rows! Which I admit took me a moment to work out why only 5 sites were showing on 10 rows (default).
Confusion
Perhaps I’m just stupid (please don’t comment on me being stupid), but now you get an arrow, up or down in the column for ‘change’, you can changes this for visits (default), average time on site, bounce rate & completed goals. Now thats great, you can see if your sites are improving from a distance, rather than going into each site, BUT, is that up or down arrow based on each day?? week? Month? I don’t know if it’s better than yesterday, or better than last month, and there is no information to tell me & and I have to say I can’t be bothered to work it out. So one of my sites says Up 185.1%, but over what period is that up? Today’s traffic? Yesterdays? GAH! You get the point.
Overview
The dashboard is now more clean, crisp & easier on the eye + far more user friendly. Please see screeny of my panel, details have been distored to protect clients.
