BANG! Smash, “get out of the car”, we all love a good grand theft auto game, and ever since its 2d ancestors we’ve got used to massive cities and cheating death even when jumping out of helicopters at massive heights. But what’s changed? Not a lot in our opinion, it’s still just the same old game, with the same old Liberty City, mainly the same cars too!

Well what’s different – now you being phoned up every five minutes to see if you want to go bowling with Roman, or get play darts with your girlfriend. HMM, at first the novelty is fun, but soon gets annoying, and I’m sure it doesn’t get more ‘gangstery’ than getting a strike at bowling, or potting all the balls at pool…

When it comes to game play, everything does feel a bit more ‘fluid’ now, with actions feeling less rigid like climbing, jumping and getting in and out of vehicles. There’s now a handful of different animations for when you steal a car.

As for you, you’re Nikko, a Russian trying to make it big in liberty city, but really for GTA it feels like an all to familiar story, and after the novelty of stealing cars and avoiding the police wears off, you’ll be looking for more action.

Thats where the clever multi player comes in. You can have some fun death matches, team-death matches, races etc, with all different settings for the whole city. Not much is left out from the single player to be honest, which is pretty impressive.

Oh almost forgot to tell you about the police. There pretty easy to avoid now. You just need to get out of the radius on the map, fool them with a few turns, left, right, left again, then drive off. Or change your car without them seeing, and drive out of the radius. Which kinda takes the fun out of it abit, especially when you’ve got exactly the same weapons as all the other gta games.

All in all, this game is fun, I love a good rampage in GTA, but still its not ground breaking enough for me to be really happy.

Better luck next time Rockstar, but at least your not making lemmings any more.

I agree about the annoyig phone calls, and the police are a joke now. They’ve probably been dumbed down to compensate for the super-realistic controls. I didn’t play GTA for realism, that’s the point! Graphics and satire are spot on. That’s it though, same old after that.
