Yes its been a little while since I’ve been able to post, since the MarketMeTweet 2.0 Launch but now things have settled down and got back to normal.
I recently got myself an iPod Touch, thanks to a rebate that Thomas Molloy (other Wuup writer) was able to get on one – and overall its pretty cool, because its that bit lighter I now like to take it when I go for my occasional runs down the beach.
One of the new 4.0 features on the Apple Software release caught my eye. The iBook store, a place where you can buy ebooks and read them on a tiny screen
– because after all the iPod touch is now nothing more than an iPad nano. But anyway, firstly before I talk about the bug I found, I wanted to say this:
Apple, I’m not really into author names, and I’m sure theres other people like me, so why the hell can’t I browse for books via category, rather than looking through loads and loads of authors – its so bad that I am yet to buy any from the store because I can’t find anything I want to read…
Ok so I got tons of PDF’s in my archive, and one of the great features of the iBook store is a halfway decent PDF reader unlike the old one built into the software which lacked in search capabilities.
So like you have to, I dragged in my library of PDF’s into the iTunes on my laptop, they all loaded up after some time, and then I synced my iPod to it. (I had tested this feature before and put 1 pdf on first). So the sync finished, I load up my iPod touch, and look for the PDF’s.
They are no where. Only the original one that I started with in my test.
So I leave the app, go back in, there not there, I re-sync the iPod, there not there still though. I then restarted the iPod, and they still weren’t there in the iBooks App.
So then it dawned on me, the new OS 4.0 has multi-tasking (which is a bit shit), and so I went on the home screen, doubled tapped the home button, up it comes at the bottom, hold down finger on the icon till the wobble, then I quit the app. Restarted it again, and all my PDF’s were there. Now I tell you, this was a complete guess – I had no idea…
I think this is a pretty major bug, it had me guessing for ages…
Bug:
No PDF’s in the iBook app after syncing with iTunes
Solution
End the app from multitasking and restart it.
