@Tom - Discussions like these are the seeds of revolution!

The more people that write and talk about it the better because people will become more aware of the problem and change is more likely to happen!

@Spyda - Totally agree; if a company starts bad mouthing the other I lose all respect for it, you should state why it's better to go with your products on a benefits level, not you should go with Company A because Company B said you smell.

There he goes again with his anti-establishment propaganda lol Thought you didn't do politics Alan?

At least now though Apple and Microsoft aren't running Presidential election campaign style ads where all they do is slag the other off. Those really do my nut in, as a customer I don't want reasons why I shouldn't buy from company X I want to know why I should by from you.

@Bill The meaning of PC, has been lost in translation by furious Microsoft and Apple marketing. Just if I was to say I was gay today. People would think I'm a 'homosexual' not 'happy'.

Kids, just calm down! The sad truth is, is that all we can do in these big corporate moves is point and grumble, which, unfortunately achieves nothing. Building sandcastles on the other hand is extremely rewarding. I recommend it.

@Alan, i'm not disputing about the OS, a mac is a PC (Personal Computer). When apple say "Mac vs PC" they really mean "Mac OS vs Windows".

@Spyda.... LOL
@Dan @Bill - Microsoft's marketing department really feels at the moment like it's trying to be really hip and cool, like its been taken over by a group of 18-20 year olds who drink too much red bull. Adverts with projectile vomit in are distasteful for most... When they try to be funny, they make themselves look ridiculus.

HOWEVER: Microsoft should not be fined banned for competition rules. We live in a 'free world' apparently. Change comes from people, not from Governments.

@Bill - I don't think they do - they've make their fair share mistakes as everyone else has but I think their problem is they don't handle it as well - Apple are very in touch with their user-base and they kind of give of this touchy feely persona whereas Microsoft feel pretty cold and corporate.

Apple drive an unimposing Mini Cooper; Microsoft drive around in an M3 - but at the very least they're as bad as each other.

The GPS app is £59.99 for UK & Ireland and £79.99 for the Western Europe maps so no, not really - but it is proper TomTom stuff so you're probably paying for the name.

...actually there is also a version of CoPilot that I hadn't noticed before which is £25.99 so there's not a lot in it.

"If Microsoft banned Open Office from Windows because it “duplicated features” (as Apple puts it) available in it’s Office products people wouldn’t stand for it, or at least would not take it as calmly as they do with Apple"

You're right, of course, and it's already happened. The case against Microsoft for breaking competition laws with IE. That resulted in Microsoft being split into separate companies for browsing and OS. Someone should try a similar case against Apple.

Oh and by the way Alan shurrup about about your Android! It's not fair I want one!
