Time for me to have a little rant, though ranting is unusal for me… and also a lot of you right now will be thinking surely you already know PC World suck, well your right I did already, however the last time I visited one was nearly 7 years ago, so I thought it was a chance to see if anything had changed.
I was seeking out a new laptop, Sony Something I can’t remember the model number, but anyway. I’d basically been looking all weekend for this, I’ve been to countless retailers which I all hate, because they never have what I want, and they are morons too. So I research online, actually at Comet first. I find this Sony model, I go in there shop, online they have about 25 -35 models, I walk in, they have about 8 models out, 4 of which are Acer (buy an Acer to waste your money). I ask about the online laptop I get “oh sorry, we wont get that in till Monday, actually you have to order it.” I say OK, forget it. So I return home, and look up pc world on there website. I found the same laptop, I actually started the online checkout, and I noticed it allowed me to do the pick up in store, I thought great, they have it in store, I won’t check out, I’ll go there! Simply because I don’t trust this system, if I checkout, and they don’t have it, how can I get my money back? Stores say its not their problem because you got it online, and online say you should get it from store, so I thought I’d avoid that, and go there.
So I get to PC world, Norwich. I brushed off what I remembered about pc world 7 years ago, and went searching for the Laptop in store, and by the way, credit crunch my arse, it was massing with customers. So I look through, and there was a Sony model which was one letter out… So I find someone, he looks up on the computer, says “no don’t know if we have that one”, I say “well go check for me”, so this greasy spotty little twat faced idiot goes off and checks, though I know he’s just some tosser and won’t actually check properly. Anyway, he couldn’t find that laptop, and then I realise that the one which is one letter out, is actually a lesser spec to the one I want. So I thought no, I don’t wanna leave without a laptop, I’ll go to the next next model up, which was £200 more, but worth it, so he says yeah, we got one left and go sit down at a sales desk.
He then proceeds to bring it up, but firstly searches for the missing laptop I saw online, BUT I’m not mad, but it was no longer on there website, so after driving an hour, they had taken it off… typically my luck. So anyway, I say ok, don’t worry, I’ll take the more pricey one. So he brings it up, after forgetting the model, and typing it in wrong, he says “look, there’s 1 left in pristine (new condition)”, I said “great I’ll take it”. He then goes off and says “it’s not there, we’re out” by this time I was getting really pissed off, he checked at other stores they didn’t have it either, so I said “fuck it, I’m off, I give up.”
So what a big waste of time and effort, I’m still without a new laptop, and I won’t be returning to PC world.. Just with such a high price item, I prefer to TRY and buy it from a retailer, to have a face to go to if there is a problem.
Now I will have to re-evaluate. Incompetent fools.
