This is a quick little note for people who are looking to increase a crawl rate using google’s fairly recent addition, it’s not brand new, but I figured that a lot of people who don’t visit this section won’t know its there. It allows you to increase your crawl rate temporarily for a limited period! – When I say limited i think its like 2 months or so (I can’t remember)
To do this:
- Load Up Webmaster tools via accounts, webmaster tools
- Choose the site you want to increase crawl rate for
- Go to settings on the left side
- Then you should see this ‘newish’ giant slider
- By Default you are set to ‘let google determine my crawl rate (recommended), change that ‘set custom crawl rate’
- Now I wouldn’t push it, slide the slider up a bit, don’t wanna take the piss!
- You’re done! Save your settings – it’ll tell you how long its for there
It’s a nice little trick, and can help you, especially if you’ve made lots of seo changes.
