It seems it isn’t just the socially challenged who are dipping into the world of open source, as the giant band Radiohead release their promotion video to the public for free (for a limited time only) - House of Cards.
The video uses 3d plotting, using Gemetric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR, one scanned the light to capture the 3d images at a close proximity whist the other uses multiple lasers to cpature the large environment. Pretty interesting stuff, but I wonder what the public are going to do with such a specialist thing.
Reports have been heard that those who have dabbled with it so far have had results come out distorted, but we’ll see, there has been a Youtube group setup to release and share the work.
Although Radiohead isn’t the first band to dip its hand into the digital hand, we certainly don’t think it will be the last.
This sure is a interesting way to reach a new audience and it’s great to see open source being used as an marketing tool, with declining record sales, bands do need to be more creative than their rivals.
