Windows Live Free? Microsoft Gone soft?

I guess this is all sort of related back to E3 and the post done by my good friend elderan - as this announcement by Corporate giants Microsoft was made now, and not a the most anticipated gaming event of the year (duh microsoft, idiots)… So what does this mean? It means that ‘Games for Windows’ which are cross-platform, like halo etc, can now be played with those on the xbox360 for free.

My question as I’m suspicious of this is why? My guess is Microsoft Bosses were introduced to a sweet & adorable kitten named Tiny Timmy.

But the question playing on everyone elses mind is, will Xbox live ever be free? The answer is probably no, or perhaps only if the likes of WII & playstation put more pressure on, but as we all know PS3 has been as exciting as those go faster stripes on cars.

We thank you Microsoft, you greedy scum bags.

  1. Is Microsoft just trying to give us more reasons to migrate to vista?

  2. Oh come on bugsy, calling microsoft greedy is a bit extreme.

The LIVE service completely and utterly kicks the arse of the psn and the wii online.

LIVE being free for windows live doesn’t affect me in the slightest. I have a gamertag already that I am more then happy to pay for the monthly fee.

True it could be another push to make people move to Vista, but as far as I know LIVE works on XP computers.

    Opinions differ mr bugsy ;)

  3. They shouldn’t charge for a service they provide, if they are charging they are admitting they aren’t making enough through consoles and game royalties. Don’t offer a service you cant provide!

  4. the Xbox division has had its first year with actual profit this current year. So at least Microsoft stuck with it for all these years.

  5. Oh yeah it does work on XP too. Though i doubt i’d use it on windows. I am quite happy with my xbox Live service so far, never had any trouble. +1 for MS.
