XP & Vista Taste Test

When you take a popular marketing ploy from the food & drink industry, we definatley know Microsoft has a screw loose. That they did was, is round up some unwitting, useless excuses for people and told them they we’re testing a brand new OS Code-named Mojave. Ofcourse this wasn’t the case, and it was just an off the shelf Windows Vista (perhaps with subliminal messaging).

What’s odd, was the taste-testing morons overwhelmingly picked Vista. I’m not sure this is an entirely fair test. People like shiny things, but those who really need to use Microsofts operating systems, is those who use it for business, and when it comes to VIsta, we know it doesn’t cut it.

What’s worse, is Microsoft plans to use some of this footage in its up and coming advertisements, claiming to tell the ‘real Windows Vista Story’.

Vista’s always come under attack, even before it was released, firstly because everyone thought Longhorn was a cooler name than Vista, and the countless delays in releasing. What didn’t help also was the number of IT professionals who said XP was better than Vista (and they were right!).

Even though Vista has been out over a year, it has barely more market share than its rival Mac OS X, although 7 in 10 computers have windows XP.

Vista will increase in popularity, its inevitable with decreasing XP support, and eventually no support, and the fact that every new machine is shipped with Vista.

But when we look back to the past. I remember everyone distinctly hating XP, and those IT professionals then declared windows 98 best. For a time they were right, but issues were resolved in XP, but does this mean that we will change our minds about crappy Vista? Time will tell.

All good fun…

  1. I like some aspects of Vista after using it for a few months now. It is not as bad people say sometimes. True its resource hungry, but it would be. It is a new OS. I remember when people had to buy new PCs just to run XP.

Ah well in time it will become the default OS of choice for window users.
